In the sub-Saharan Africa, Soccer is a ball game that unites differences. People often forget their differences in age, tribe, religion and class for the fun and tempo that Soccer brings. Soccer events make people forget about their problems and even their poverty!

Footballers play the game of soccer and soccer stars thrill the spectators with their skills and spectacular goals in world soccer events. During such events the problem of race or colour is usually forgotten. Soccer is a great unifier of differences in our globe.
Kanu Nwankwo is a familiar name in the international soccer scene. Three times African footballer of the year, Kanu decided to bring the thrill of the soccer game to the heart’s arena and he has touched the lives of kids and adults with heart conditions that require expensive surgeries.

I often talk about spiritual wake up call; that moment of brief enlightenment that inspires a human towards a lofty ideal. Kanu’s wakeup call came after he was pre-diagnosed with a heart condition.
After a successfully heart surgery, Kanu was inspired to start a foundation focused on performing heart surgeries on kids.

The Kanu Heart foundation has sponsored about 538 open surgeries since its inception in year 2000 and these expensive surgeries were performed in the UK, India, Israel, and Sudan.
Most of the kids who benefitted from these surgeries were from poor homes and couldn’t have afforded the means to pay for their operations.
Kanu is planning to establish a cardiac specialist hospital in his home country, Nigeria in order to cut down on surgery cost and eliminate traveling expenses. The Game of the Heart.
The Heart is a powerful organ. Every blood vessel and nerve that supplies the heart is like footballers in the soccer pitch. Kanu understands that the heart is like the ball which all soccer events utilize to bring fulfillment. The heart is not only capable of affection; it is able to give compassion to those that need it.
