Simplify Your Crypto Tax Reporting With the New Gemini Tax Center

There’s no denying that taxes are complicated, and adding crypto taxes to the mix certainly doesn’t help. Over the past year, a cross-functional team of tax experts and engineers at Gemini have collaborated to build the Gemini Tax Center, a hub dedicated to simplifying your US crypto tax reporting.
The new Gemini Tax Center* is designed to provide you with helpful tools for the upcoming tax season. If you sold assets on the Gemini exchange in 2023, you will be able to generate a gain/loss statement for these sales. You’ll also be able to track information for crypto transferred to Gemini by manually entering price and acquisition date information, or using a default value at the time of the transfer.

Download a 2023 Gain/Loss Statement Plus Current and Historical Forms 1099-MISC

Save the Date: a 2023 Gain/Loss statement will be accessible on February 21, 2024, for users who have entered the necessary information.
To generate a 2023 gain/loss statement, you’ll have to satisfy the following conditions:

1. Sold an asset in 2023;
2. Selected a cost basis method to apply to sales; and
3. Input cost basis and acquisition date information for assets transferred onto the exchange (if applicable).

The Gemini Tax Center will also be the new centralized location for US users to download current and historical Forms 1099-MISC, as well as receive income and realized gain/loss information.

How to Access the Gemini Tax Center

To access the Gemini Tax Center, follow these steps:

1. Log on to your Gemini account on our website or mobile app,
2. Navigate to the Account tab at the top right of your screen (if you're on web, click settings),
3. Locate and click on the Statements and taxes tab,
4. Once on the Statements and taxes page, select the Taxes tab.
