Macronutrients or macros are essential nutrients for our body, which provide energy and ensure the proper functioning of its vital functions. There are 3 of them: Proteins, carbohydrates and lipids.
🍗 Proteins: They allow the construction of muscle mass during training periods, its maintenance and renewal.
đź’ˇThe right portion depends on body weight and the muscular requirement of physical activity. It is between 1.2 and 2.4 times body weight.
🍚 Carbohydrates: They are the main source of our energy. Their ingestion helps build up energy reserves before exercise and restore them after exercise.
đź’ˇDuring training periods; more starchy foods than vegetables (2/3-1/3). During non-training periods; fewer starchy foods than vegetables (1/3-2/3).
🥑 Lipids: They are necessary for our body. They are the main constituents of cell membranes and therefore ensure their proper functioning and associated organs.
đź’ˇCalorie intake from lipids represents approximately 20% of the total daily calories.
