MOLLA OSMAN KILLING THE BULGARIAN BANDITS IN AMBUSH

Osman was trying to find the traces of those who caused his brother's death. One day, he went to the Bulgarian Village Soğanlık, taking a few prominent people from Balcıbük Village with him. Since he knew that the people of Balcıbük had good dialogue with the villagers of Soğanlık, he wanted to evaluate this fact. Osman knew Bulgarian very well. His meeting with a few people he could trust in Soğanlık Village had yielded positive results. At the end of these meetings, he learned the names of those who ambushed his brother and caused his death. There were also people from Balcıbük who knew these people. Osman asked to be notified where these people were seen.

Osman had two Lagant brand pistols with a diameter of 9 millimeters, which were very effective. He was considered a good marksman because he shot with these pistols many times. Because he was fond of his weapons, he took care of their maintenance. After cleaning the inside and outside of his weapons, he would lubricate the metal parts with vaseline oil. After this process, he cleaned the inside of the barrel with a clean cloth that he had attached to his gun comb so that it was ready to fire at any time.

Osman received news from a villager from Balcıbük who came to him on a day of Ramadan that the people who caused his brother's death had set up an ambush in the land of Balcıbük Village.

"Okay, here's the moment I've been waiting for," he said. Osman did not want to waste any time. He went to the scene with the villager who brought him the news and determined the ambush location of the bandits in the balkan without being seen.

The ambush set up by Bulgarian bandits: It was in a place close to Balcıbük Village. Osman prepared a plan to kill the bandits.

As iftar time came, the Ramadan drummer started to wander the streets of Balcıbük Village, beating his drum. Taking advantage of this, Osman silently approached the drummer and attacked him. He also covered his mouth with his hand;

He warned him, saying, "If you make any noise, I'll shoot you..." Surprised by what had happened, the drummer took off his clothes without any objection. Without wasting any time, Osman took off his own clothes and put on the dress and hat that the drummer had taken off. After putting the drum on his shoulder, he played it and went straight to the place where the ambush was located. When he approached the ambush place: The bandits did not care much about Osman because they thought he was a drummer. Osman, who came closer to them, threw the drum to the ground with a sudden movement and quickly drew his pistols; He fired them and emptied all the bullets in their magazines onto the bandits. When the pistols ran out of bullets: The bandits' bodies were in a riddled position; All three were lying lifeless on the ground. The place where the bandits were turned into a bloodbath. Osman took his revenge on the Bulgarian Bandits who caused his brother's death. However, this event was also the beginning of other events he would experience.

The killing of the Bulgarian bandits was quickly heard around. For this reason, a gendarmerie committee appointed by the Bulgarian Gendarmerie Command of Ortaköy District; He started to analyze the incident. At the end of the investigation, it was understood that the person who did this was Molla Osman. Bulgarian Gendarmerie to catch Osman without delay; started operations. Hearing this, Osman realized that he would be caught; He made the necessary preparations and went to the mountain, which was the safest place for him. After that, he started to live in the mountains and the Balkans.

Osman single-handedly shot and killed three Bulgarian bandits who set up an ambush for robbery and murder in the Balcıbük Village Land; It spread around in a short time and caused a great impact. The Bulgarian bandits were not attracted to Osman... In their eyes, Osman was no different from a fierce wolf who could always trap the herd of cattle.

THE NEWS THAT HE WAS A GUEST IN BALCIBÜK VILLAGE

ATTEMPTS BY ALAN BULGARIAN BANDITS TO CAPTURE MOLLA OSMAN

Molla Osman, who killed the Bulgarian bandits who caused his brother's death in 1918, was wanted by both the Bulgarian gendarmerie and the Bulgarian bandits for the purpose of capture.

That's why he now lived in the mountains… and slept in caves at night. From time to time, he would stay at the house of his sister, Molla Fatma, who lived in Balcıbük Village. Sometimes he would stay at the houses of his trusted friends in the villages neighboring this village. He always kept two pistols with him. In a sense, his escape from troubles and survival depended on these guns. Osman's midwife wife, Şadiye Hanım, was working at Dimetoka State Hospital. Since this place was on the Greek side, Osman's wandering around here did not cause any problems for him. For this reason, he could meet his wife Şadiye Hanım whenever he wanted.

On a Saturday in March 1919, Osman went to Dimetoka and arranged a horse for his wife; They took her from the hospital and went directly to the house of her sister Fatma Hanım, who lived in Balcıbük Village. Fatma Hanım was the bride of Ali Ağa, one of the notables of Balcıbük Village, and his lord was martyred in the Balkan War... Fatma Hanım was very happy when her brother and aunt came to her house. He greeted them right in front of his house and helped them get off their horses...

“Welcome, you have brought joy,” she said. They too…

They responded by saying, “We welcome you.” Fatma Hanım first kissed her aunt's hand. Şadiye Hanım responded by kissing his cheeks. Then Fatma turned towards her brother Osman... She kissed his hand too. Osman hugged his sister and kissed her on the forehead. They were both crying tears of joy and did not want to leave each other. Ms. Fatma…

“Brother, it's been a whole year, we haven't seen each other, I miss you so much.” Said. After Osman wiped the tears from his eyes with his hand...

"I miss you too, brother, but what can we do, our fate demands it this way, there is nothing we can do," he said. Ms. Fatma…

“Brother, you go into the house with my auntie… I will pull the horses to the stable,” he said. Osman too…

“It will be a hassle for you,” he said. After Fatma Hanım tied the horses to the stable; She put enough barley into the manger to fill their stomachs.

Ali Ağa, who received the news that Osman had come to his house as a guest... came to his house from the coffee house and went to Osman and Şadiye Hanım...

“Welcome,” he said. After saying "We welcome you", they kissed Ali Agha's hand out of respect. Osman was a person loved and respected by the people of Balcıbük. Especially the fact that he killed three Bulgarian bandits who set up an ambush in the Balcıbük Village land with the aim of killing and robbing... After this incident, other Bulgarian bandits did not touch the people of Balcıbük because they were afraid of Osman; He made Osman a hero in the eyes of the villagers.

“When the villagers heard that Osman had come to Balcıbük, they flocked to Ali Ağa's house to see him. Taking into account the guests who would come to his house in the evening, Ali Agha had a large ram slaughtered. His daughter-in-law, Fatma Manini, with the help of neighboring women; She prepared delicious meals for the evening.

Ali Agha's house had three floors and a wine cellar at the bottom. He kept three or four barrels of wine here every year. Before dinner, he went down to the cellar and drew two large copper wines from one of the barrels for his guests. When it was time for dinner, all guests were invited to the tables prepared in the rooms by Ali Ağa.

We all ate meals and drank wine together. Flerkes was tipsy... At the end of the meal, a table prayer was read by the Bektashi Grandfather of the village. After this, upon the request of the host, Çerçi Mehmet, who was among the guests and served as the zakir at the cems, took his saz in his hand and started playing and singing the breath.

“First of all, Hak Muhammed Ali came to this world… Do not turn away from a hundred thousand men. It came to my Shah.

Ali is the head of the Ghazis, Hızır, the head of the Nebis, a person from the north, Eyüp Sulun Gazi has arrived… Seyit Battal Gazi has arrived…

What did they do? What did they do? They threw Joseph into the well. They both bought and sold. They told lies to the wolves.

The strange nightingale knows no object. He who drinks Abu-Kevser will not die. An infidel cannot be defeated by a Muslim. He has been defeated since time immemorial...

My Pir Sultan says it, but my Shah Sultan says it only when he descended to Muhammad. When my Sancak Ali got on Duldul. A hundred thousand infidels came to religion... A hundred thousand infidels came to faith..."

While most of the guests in the house were chanting, Osman and his wife were joining them. Osman was very honored to receive the love of so many people. That night, Ali Agha's house resembled a cem house. Especially when the souls were performing the semah in pairs, Osman became even more emotional. He also attended the "Turna Semah" with his wife Şadiye Hanım.

But just as all beauty comes to an end, this sacred union also came to an end. The Bulgarian Bandits, who received the news that Osman came to Balcıbük and was a guest at Ali Ağa's house, came to Kadir Özdemir's coffee house in Balcıbük Village and went to the cafe where he was sitting. They called headman Ramazan Efendi out. Coming out of the cafe, Ramazan Efendi saw ten armed Bulgarian bandits in front of him; He suddenly got worried. Bandit Head…

"You will take us to Ali Agha's house in a hurry," he said. Ramazan Efendi understood that the Bulgarian Bandits had come to capture Osman. But since there was nothing he could do, he succumbed to the bandits' demands, being helpless. He was very sorry that he could not warn Osman. Therefore, he was praying to God to help Osman. They went directly to Ali Agha's house, with the headman in front and the bandits behind him. There were two watchmen in front of the garden gate of the house. Even though the night was dark, the lookouts noticed Mukhtar Ramazan Efendi and the armed Bulgarian Bandits coming towards Ali Agha's house. For this reason, one of the watchmen rushed into the house and warned Osman. Osman was very sorry for causing this beauty to deteriorate. Therefore, he addressed the guests and apologized to them. Then he hurried down to the cellar of the house with his wife Şadiye Hanım. Bulgarian bandits were trying to surround the house. Ramazan Efendi entered the house with the Head Bandits...

"Don't go out, continue having fun, they have come to catch Osman..." he said. But no one was left to have fun.

Meanwhile, Osman came to the door of the cellar opening to the garden with his wife...

After praying silently by saying "Ya Allah, Ya Muhammad, Ya Ali", he opened the cellar door, and he and his wife passed through the very dense trees and quickly dived into the balkan. They quickly crossed Sal Creek, which was in the direction they were going, without worrying about getting wet. Then they headed towards Sıçanlık Village, and after walking all night, defying the cold and insomnia, they arrived at Osman's relative's house in Sıçanlık Village in the morning. When the host saw them, he immediately let them in. Because they were so tired and exhausted, they took off their clothes and hurriedly went to bed. When they woke up in the afternoon, the owner and his wife had prepared lunch for them. After eating together, Osman said goodbye to his relative and left his wife Şadiye Hanım to the State Hospital in Dimetoka. Osman, who said goodbye to his wife and left Dimetoka, decided that the safest way for himself was to join the Turkish gangs.

For this reason, he went to Kütüklü Village and met his friend Niyazi Bey, who was a gang member. With his help, he met Fuat Balkan Bey, the commander of all Turkish gangs. After Osman told Fuat Bey what he had experienced; He said he wanted to be a gang member. Thereupon... Mr. Fuat, who asked Osman some questions and received positive answers, decided to include Osman among them. Osman was now a gang member, a committee member and a Kuva-yı Milliye candidate. He received gang training for a while together with newly recruited members like him. Fuat Bey, knowing that he learned to fly an airplane while doing his military service in Yeşilköy, sent Osman to the pilot course in Tirana. Osman, who learned piloting thoroughly during the course, was assigned to reconnaissance flights by Fuat Bey as a result of the draw.

While he was performing his reconnaissance mission with his plane near the border of Bulgaria and Greece during the War of Independence; The radiator of the plane was pierced as a result of the Greeks opening fire on the plane. Since the steam and hot water gushing from the puncture site reached Osman's hands and body, part of his body was scalded in a way that was not severe. For this reason, he crossed the Meriç River with his plane and made a forced landing in a plain between Edirne and Havsa. Villagers working in the field close to where the plane landed came to the plane and took Osman out of the plane. They threw him into an ox cart and delivered him to the field hospital near Edirne. Learning about the incident, military officials went to the place where the plane landed and took over the plane. Osman, who was hospitalized and treated for a while in the Sahara hospital, went to Bulgaria after his recovery and went to Kütüklü Village to report to Fuat Balkan. Fuat Bey was a former officer who showed usefulness in the Balkan and Çanakkale wars, a very good committee member and a patriotic Kuva-yi Milliye supporter. Now to him

Affiliated with the Thrace and Pashaeli Society, he was given the task of preventing the Greek troops from invading Thrace by attacking and damaging them with guerrilla and gang warfare. Fuat Bey assigned Osman to one of his gangs. Osman participated in many raids against the Greeks. Due to his services, he was promoted to Gang Commander. Since Osman's parents lived in Muratlı district of Tekirdağ prov
ince in those years, Osman was known as Tekirdağlı Osman among his gang members.
