How The Sandbox Became a Blockchain-Based Creative Platform

Pixowl launched The Sandbox Game in 2012 as a 2D pixel art game built to empower creators to share their content, which evolved over time with over 40 million downloads.

By mid 2018, the Pixowl team announced its acquisition by Animoca Brands to launch a 3D version of The Sandbox, with a goal to become the new standard in world building games to empower global artists, storytellers, and game designers of all skill levels to create, publish, own, and monetise a myriad of unique content through the power of blockchain technology.

There are a number of ways to earn SAND and other rewards in The Sandbox. You need to connect a cryptocurrency wallet to your account at The Sandbox in order to receive it.

Seasons & Events

Visit the Events page on The Sandbox website and The Sandbox Medium to learn about live events in the metaverse and what rewards are available. This may include completing quests built into Experiences or participating in fun activities and sharing on social media.
Rewards are often prize pools that are either distributed to players on a first-come-first-serve basis or through raffles. Each Event has its own unique rewards and rules. Each Season hosted by The Sandbox may also have a different system of earning rewards.

Creative Contests

The Sandbox makes announcements via Medium, Twitter, and other social media when contests begin. Follow instructions to find all of the rules, guidelines, and submission requirements.
Use VoxEdit, Game Maker, or both to complete your submission, depending on the nature of the contest.
