Eleanor Tomlinson



Eleanor May Tomlinson, born on May 19, 1992, is an English actress known for her roles in various films and television series. Some of her notable film appearances include "Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging" (2008), "Jack the Giant Slayer" (2013), "Colette" (2018), and "Love Wedding Repeat" (2020). On television, she gained recognition for her portrayal of Demelza Poldark in the BBC One series "Poldark" (2015–2019). Additionally, she starred in the series "War of the Worlds" (2019) and "The Outlaws" (2021).


Eleanor May Tomlinson was born in London, England. During her youth, she and her family relocated to Beverley, East Riding of Yorkshire. She attended Beverley High School. Her parents are Judith Hibbert, a singer, and Malcolm Tomlinson, who works as an actor and horse racing commentator. Eleanor has a brother named Ross Tomlinson, born in 1994, who is also an actor.


In 2006, Eleanor Tomlinson made her debut appearance in the film "The Illusionist" as Young Sophie. She then gained recognition for her role as Jas in the teen film "Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging" in 2008. In 2009, she portrayed Kirsten in the Pro Sieben international production "The Village" alongside David Bamber.


Tomlinson's career continued to flourish as she played Eve, an alien, in episodes three and four of Series 3 of "The Sarah Jane Adventures" in 2009. She also portrayed Fiona Chataway in the film "Alice in Wonderland" in 2010. Additionally, she appeared as Xenya in the 2013 film "Siberian Education" by Gabriele Salvatores.


In 2013, Tomlinson landed the role of Princess Isabelle in "Jack the Giant Slayer," directed by Bryan Singer. She also appeared in the Agatha Christie's Poirot episode "The Labours of Hercules" as Alice Cunningham.


Further cementing her status in the industry, Tomlinson starred as Lady Isabel Neville in the TV series "The White Queen" in 2013 and as Georgiana Darcy in the BBC adaptation of "Death Comes to Pemberley." Her most notable role came between 2015 and 2019 when she portrayed Demelza Poldark in the BBC One television series "Poldark."


Tomlinson's talent and contribution to television earned her a spot on the "Radio Times TV 100" list for 2018. She continued her television work by starring as Amy in the 2019 BBC television series "The War of the Worlds" and as Lady Gabby in the 2021 comedy-drama "The Outlaws" for BBC television.


In 2023, Tomlinson played Evie in the Channel 4 thriller "The Couple Next Door." She also portrayed Sylvie in Netflix's romantic drama series "One Day" in 2024, an adaptation of David Nicholl's book of the same name.
In July 2022, Eleanor Tomlinson tied the knot with rugby player Will Owen.
